On November 10th, around 2:30 PM, Alex and Eric met with Farhad to go over the progress we have made on the Software aspect. During this meeting, they mentioned their progress with the Fourier Transformation of each axis of the x, y and z direction , and then Alex and Eric presented our additional ideas of zero crossing and peak detection using the standard deviation of the data, due to their research on previous accelerometer algorithms. From the discussion, Farhad has suggested that we should maybe only focus on the y-axis data, since its largest freqeuncy peak correlates with the single step count of the user. Also, Farhad showed Alex and Eric, his user interface that allows for the beat detection between the ECG and PPG signals, which show some similarities to the step counting algorithm. Alex and Eric will be working on refining the step counting algorithm and then moving into the GUI development for the user interface with the software.
