Today our group visited Breckenridge Village to meet with potential product users and gain feedback/opinions on the SilverSteps fitness band. Approximately 30 individuals attended our presentation and were all extremely helpful on providing product feedback. They also gave insight into their lives, in terms of their workout routines and how they meaure fitness. We passed out a survey that allowed us to record individual opinions on how the product could be improved and what features people would be interested in. Besides the pedometer, other features that seemed to generate interest were a heart rate monitor, blood pressure reader, SpO2 measurer, medication alert, and emergency fall alert button. We will look into including some of these features into our prototype if time allows.
All in all, the presentation was very helpful for our project. It allowed us to see how we will be developing this product for the users themselves. Before, we were designing it based on what we thought the users would want. It was clear that some design assumptions we made were incorrect. From the focus group, we learned that a product that is easy to use and provides the data upfront with minimal searching is desired.
