Today we gave our midterm presentation. We were able to share with the class about our project and the progress we have made. All in all, the presentation went well. From the presentation feedback we learned to look into wavelets and spectrograms for noise filtering applications. Additionally, we heard that using an Altoids tin is a practical apporach for a housing container and would save us money by not having to 3D print the hardware case. Based on the feedback, we have decided not to produce a PCB for the hardware. This is because the components we are using are already small and easily connected together in a small space. By not having to design and produce a PCB, we will save time and money that can be better spent elsewhere. Roy and Karly will be able to complete the hardware component much more quickly and will be able to assist Eric and Alex with producing a more robust algorithm. Finally, we learned that we will need to purchase a clock for our circuit in order to timestamp the readings. This will allow us to compare the data from the watch that was measured at the same point in time which will give a more accurate step count.
